It’s usually the very first question out of my mouth when my hubby recommends a film for us to see: “Is there any kissing?” I can’t help it; I’m a girl that follows her heart. And as such I have a habit of getting carried away sometimes – just like in a romantic movie!
Over the years, I’ve kept a list of on screen movie kisses that surpass all others. And because #VDayisTHEday, I’m sharing my list in hopes that it inspires you to make each smooch just like on the silver screen. So pucker up for this list of my fave on-screen smooches.
LADY AND THE TRAMP:
A classic for the ages and for ALL ages. And why is that? Because it’s so innocent and accidental. While out dining on spaghetti, the two pups find love in a hopeful place. Puppy love is fab!
GHOST:
A sexy Swayze (playing soon to be murdered Sam) crouches behind his lover Molly (a sultry Demi Moore) and assists her in making beautiful pottery by joining hands…then fingers..then lips…then – anyway, it’s clear how they feel about each other. Both the direction and the strains of “Unchained Melody” are a big part of why this scene has been cited as one of the best on-screen kisses ever.
SPIDERMAN:
Earlier this week we talked about how quid pro quo can be icky. But when it comes to a life saving rescue and Tobey Maguire is involved, well…c’mon. But what seals the deal is the remixed kiss in the rain – upside down! Le Sigh.
FROM HERE TO ETERNITY:
Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr are iconic in a full embrace and smolder in this ‘more than just a kiss’ screen smooch. Sand, surf, swimwear – all the elements are there, fabs. Dive in!
TITANIC:
Leo. Kate. Nuff said.
LOVE ACTUALLY:
Heartbroken Mark is in love with his best friend’s wife Juliet. He reveals his devotion during a scene in which he pops up on her doorstep and reveals the depths of his true affection via poster boards that say more than any sonnet ever could. Her reaction? Priceless.
BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S:
Holly and Paul create the sexiest back alley ever while searching for their cat. In the rain. But what makes the kiss so meaningful is it comes on the heels of Holly’s realization that, as Paul says, ” People do belong to each other.’ Because that’s the only chance anybody’s got for real happiness.” Work.
LOVE AND BASKETBALL:
My body temperature jumped at least a good 10-15 degrees just thinking about this movie. Monica and Quincy’s final 1-on-1 game is Monica’s bold and risky attempt to hold onto the love of her life. Quincy wins with a tie-breaker but just as Monica is about to shrink away defeated, he says those words that have melted a thousand hearts: “Double or nothing.” Boom.
BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN:
Jack and Ennis’ reunion kiss comes at a high price for everyone involved. But there are few kisses I’ve scene that match the intensity, yearning, and desire of these two lonely cowboys who finally find a way to connect.
#10 – Your pick. Which movie kiss can’t you get out of your head? Anybody every tried to recreate their favorite onscreen smooch? Let me know on my FACEBOOK PAGE and also on TWITTER.
